The Eye
Inspired by Jesse R. Lucas This project was one of my first attempts at creating a GIF from scratch and seamless animation. I made all stills in Adobe Illustrator. The shadow has a Gaussian Blur, and a 3D-effect creates the bulge of the eye. In Premiere Pro, I used keyframes to make the eye hover and added noise to the background.
color + feels
On a sunny day in Atlanta, I met up with a few creatives for an impromptu photo shoot. While Andy modeled, Bri directed and John captured video for a separate project. Andy arrived on set with a Star Wars shirt, sneakers, and gold chain. Inspired by his outfit and the atmosphere of creativity, I took my photos myself. When I looked back at the pictures, I decided to create a lookbook to practice how I’d lay it out for a publication. It was a happy day of expression, and I wanted to depict this. “color + feels” is a celebration of expression and youth. The colors and geometric shapes are playful and childlike, almost as if you were back in a pre-K classroom exploring what interests you. The photos comment on the deliberation and hard work that goes into producing artwork. Andy’s golden hair and warm disposition inspired the lookbook’s yellow background. All photos and design were created by me. Programs used: Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
the dragonflies + I
I am an air sign, a creator and generator of ideas. Rather than let my thoughts waste away in my head, I must let them ~flow~ I used dragonflies as a symbol for two reasons. I once went on a retreat during a spell of self-doubt and apathy. One day, I sat outside, and two mating dragonflies approached my Afro, fell in, and stayed for a while. This was one of the most memorable times on the trip and ultimately, I began creating again. Second, days before I made the project, I won a dragonfly toy at a bowling alley. It made me feel happy and childlike. Programs used: Adobe Photoshop + After Effects
